Can you put a 12 speed cassette on a Wahoo KICKR core?
I installed a Sram NX 12 speed cassette on the KICKR and with my 2019 Intense Sniper Pro with Boost spacing it works and the shifting is smoother than my road bike was. It also works perfectly with the Wahoo Kickr Climb once the wheel base and wheel size was set up in the wahoo fitness app.

The KICKR ships with either a 10-speed or 11-speed ShimanoSRAM cassette, depending on your purchase. If you’re looking to ride with 8- or 9-speed ShimanoSRAM or Campagnolo, you’ll need to provide your own cassette (and in the case of Campagnolo, swap out the freehub).

Do I need to buy a cassette for KICKR CORE?
While the KICKR is sold with a SRAM/Shimano compatible 11 speed cassette installed, KICKR CORE is sold without a cassete and proves an excellent alternative. However, the KICKR cassette can also easily be changed out to fit most bicycle drive trains.
Can you put an 11 speed cassette on a 10 speed bike?
For nearly 20 years, the same Shimano-compatible rear wheel could utilize most any Shimano-standard 8, 9, or 10-speed cassette. However, recently, Shimano introduced 11-speed drivetrains. And, while these components work well, the new 11-speed cassettes won’t fit on these older 8/9/10-speed rear wheels.
Do you need to change gears Wahoo Kickr?
You can keep it in one gear. Most folks go small ring, mid cassette to keep a nice straight chain line. Some workouts though, you may end up spinning out (super high cadence with relatively low power) and it’ll take the Kickr a couple seconds to readjust power based on flywheel speed.
Can you put a 7 speed cassette on a Wahoo Kickr?

12-speed sprockets for road use are compatible with 11-speed wheels. The 12-speed sprocket for road use is shaped to be compatible with conventional 11-speed wheels, while increasing the number of slits in the freebody. In other words, it is compatible with both 12-speed wheels and 11-speed wheels.
Can you fit a 12 speed cassette on a 11 speed hub?
The 12-speed cassette is designed to be backwards compatible with the existing 11-speed road freehub, while the 12 speed-specific freehub (available on Dura Ace hubs currently) can’t be used with the 11-speed parts. Sram HG-style cassettes are largely the same spacing as Shimano, with the 10 speed exception.
Can I use a 12 speed chain on a 11 speed cassette?
Yes, a 12 speed chain will work fine with an 11 speed cassette. 12 speed chain is narrower than an 11 speed chain so it will fit between the adjoining cogs fine. You can not put an 11 speed chain on a 12 speed drivetrain, it’s too wide and will rub against the adjoining cogs.
How long will a Wahoo KICKR last?
Contact wahoo. I’ve found their CS to be nothing but excellent. They sent me a belt for free when mine started making noises. My Kickr Cores have each lasted between 9-12 months.
Can I use my bike cassette on KICKR CORE?
I have a Kickr Core and have been very happy with it. i just put a 9 speed cassette on my kickr 2020 and didn’t need any spacers. you might be able to get a spacer free or very cheap from a bike shop; i think they come with new cassettes and aren’t always used.
