The powerslide is one of the most basic braking techniques in skateboarding. But it is also a trick in itself. Learn how to master it. One of the first things a beginner skater needs to know when getting into skateboarding for the first time is how to slow down and stop the board.
Is it hard to powerslide?
The powerslide is a tough move to learn, and until you get it right, learning can be pretty painful! If you are a new skater, we recommend first learning to footbreak to stop, then learn to powerslide a little later when you feel more confident.
How do you powerslide better?
Powerslides are easier when you are not pressing down on the board with your full weight. Bend your knees, and right before you slide, lift off slightly (not a full jump) to help reduce the amount of friction between the ground and your board.
Are Harder wheels easier to slide?

In practice, grip racing will almost always be faster than drifting. All surfaces have a lower kinetic friction coefficient than their static friction coefficient, and the act of drifting simply doesn’t allow for the transfer of as much force to propel the car as grip runs can.
