What do you do in the Shad program?
The Shad experiences include an immersive program of lectures, workshops, projects and activities that builds on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts & math) & entrepreneurship.

How long is Shad program?
In 2020, over 2,400 students applied. Shad normally runs for four weeks in July. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SHAD has been hosted online during the summer of 2020 and the summer of 2021.

What is good about Shad?
Shad provides an educational structure, access to academic mentors and leaders, a safe environment to explore, and a diverse and open community to thrive in. Like any educational activity, outcomes at Shad are best met when students are engaged and committed to the entire program.
What did you learn in Shad?
SHAD gives you a community. SHAD surrounds you with individuals who will push you outside your comfort zone, who will teach you to grow and improve yourself whether you like it or not.

1 in 3 Shads receive financial support.

The Network is as diverse as the Shad Program itself, and was launched in 1981 with 42 founding members. 41 years later, the Network has grown into: 20,000+ alumni.

How many students get accepted to Shad Canada?
Each year, the Shad program receives about 2,000 applications. Half of those Grade 10 and 11 students are accepted into the program for a chance to expand on their skills in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM).

It’s part of a highly competitive, month-long program, hosted by universities across the country. Each year, the Shad program receives about two thousand applications. Half of those students are accepted into the program and are dispersed across 18 university campuses in Canada.

What is Shad summer camp?
Shad is Canada’s premier live-in summer enrichment program for high-potential high school students focused on STEAM and entrepreneurship. Participants spend 27 days in July living at one of 19 host university campuses across Canada and engage in transformative, experiential learning.
